Abigail turns 2!

Comment 1 Standard

Last week we celebrated Abigail’s 2nd birthday. We started our day at Jump Zone and then returned home for cake and presents with dad. Birthdays are much loved in this house. Zoe and the boys have been looking forward to and making preparations for Abby’s birthday since November when Oliver’s birthday was over. It was a long time coming. Needless to say, they lavished her with gifts and love on her special day.

An amazing transformation happens at 2. She quickly went from my little baby to a big independent girl. She is very much the girly girl. Already loving shoes, clothes and having her hair made pretty. She loves to talk and sing and is constantly coming up with new phrases that I don’t expect to hear from her. It has been such a joy to watch the relationships between each child grow. The way they interact together. God has created each one so uniquely and with each passing day I am more amazed.

Here are a few shots from the day. They are from the iPad so not the best but they capture the memory all the same.

Avilla Beach

Comment 1 Standard

After leaving Anahiem we were on our way to San Francisco.  Its a bit of a drive though so we stopped off in the Avilla Beach area for an overnight.  This was one of our best out-of-the-blue stops.  We camped next to a couple that, noticing the bikes on the back, directed us to a bike trail just down from the campsite that rode down to the beach.  What a perfect way to end a day in the car before starting dinner.  The trail was an easy 3 mile ride, almost all flat, down to the beach.  A huge sandy beach.

Toby did noot want to move from this spot!

Dogs are allowed durring certian hours of the day and we arrived just at the right time for Toby to head down with us.  He, of course, thought we were trying to kill him forcing him to run 3 miles!  Little did he know he would have to run back as well.

More trouble for Toby. An ‘unexpected’ wave actually got him wet!  Greg feels terrible.  Really.  He does.

As the sun started setting we headed back to camp.  If forced to spend more time here I would be OK with that.

San Diego – The Zoo

(This post was from Our Homeschool Trip in September 2012.)

Who can go to San Diego and not visit the San Diego Zoo? Not us! This was the next place for us to hit. We didn’t know it when the tickets were purchased but they included the Skyfari and Guided Bus Tour which, as we discovered, are a must if you actually want to see most of it.

Our fist stop was Discovery Outpost.  Guess what we found?  It’s a Fossa!!!!!

Next we rode the Skyfari to the arctic and got more awesome pictures of these cute kids we found.

Then back to the woods for a Camp Critters Show!

This was a highlight for Zoe. Many different animals were brought out including a cheetah which is her favorite animal.  Interestingly enough this white dog is a companion animal for the cheetah.  It seems the cheetah is much more relaxed when he’s around.  Good thing.  Given the look of this relaxed cheetah I would hate to see him without his buddy.

And check out these awesome macaw pictures Greg got!

This orangutan will forever be a best memory from this trip.  While Oliver was standing near the glass the orangutan ran straight to him (Oliver staggered back a bit not sure he would stop) and put on the best show around.  Laying down, climbing the bamboo, tricks with a banana leaf.  He let out all the stops.  All for little Oliver.

Greg put together a video of other pictures from this day.  He asked that I choose some favorites and write a little about the day.  I think he may have said three pictures?  Uh, well.  It was really hard for me to narrow it down to what you see.    I hope you enjoy the show.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye……

I am trying to get the site back up and running.  It looks like we got the old post minus pictures but I am working on it.  And as soon as I get this site back up and running we will be moving our online home to www.THEbellinghamthames.com…  But that is later……but until then we are going to get this up and running again.
